NeST Program

University-level Training Program

Background

In 2013, the Sayling Wen Cultural & Educational Foundation started to lay out the definition and criteria of "New Service Talent". We also developed the training structure for "New Service Talent", researched and developed teaching materials and designed unique "New Service Talent" teaching methods to achieve our goal, of shortening the gap between industry and academics in training talents.
The project was launched with expectations of cultivating new service talent for the workplace who appreciate the significance and value of service. Participants of the program are equipped with key knowledge in services, hold a positive attitude and acquire enhanced competencies. The project continues to narrow the gap between industry and educational institutions which in turn enables a seamless transition of talent from university to the workplace. As a result, students' employment competitiveness is raised. Students are connected with society to assist them in finding the general direction of the ideals they desire to pursue. Their inner passions and care for the world are therefore stimulated.

Education abroad

This activity attempted to explore opportunities for innovative services by field observation and service experience. It also proposed a service innovation program through service design methods. Students presented their innovation program in the form of a performance that overcame the language barrier and received positive comments from the reviewers.

(2)    2016/6/27-2016/7/7 Nanyang Technological University of Singapore

This activity included lessons given entirely in English. Prior to setting out for their onsite trip to Singapore, the participating students engaged in information collection, field observation and design/ itinerary planning, resulting in innovative proposals sharing on their return. During each stage of the process, the students practiced what they had learned from the educational program for New Service Talnet, thoroughly demonstrating the spirit of combining theory and practice.

(3)  2017/9/25-2017/10/5 Japan (Yokohama and Izu )

With innovative services at Sea Paradise as the theme, this activity covered full field observation and service experience. Influenced by two primary Japanese service cultures, hot spring and tea ceremony, the participating students came to gain a more in-depth appreciation of the core value of Japanese exquisite services and were consequently able to apply this spirit to their proposals, fulfilling the purpose of incorporating what they learned into practice.
